Next.js is great for building rich front-end experiences and robust back-end functionality. Next.js provides the tools to handle both.

The Next.js, The Docs is a series of articles I am writing, wherein I give my impressions and process the information after reading the official documentation. This series should be well tailored to full-stack developers who also want to read the documentation, perhaps with a bit of commentary.

This series will cover the front-end features of Next.js, such as routing, client-side rendering, and styling, before moving into it's full-stack capabilities like API routes, server-side rendering (SSR), and advanced data fetching. Separating these concerns allows us to build a solid foundation before diving into more complex back-end logic.

I will focus on the App Router Documentation exclusively.

What is Next.js?
